He Knows My Name

I have a Maker, He formed my heart
Before even time began, my life was in His hands.

He knows my name, He knows my every thought.
He sees each tear that falls and hears me when I call.

I have a Father, He calls me His own.
He'll never leave me, no matter where I go.

We sang this song for the first time at school mass this morning, and boy did those little kids sing.  The first and second graders love this song.  You know that adage that kids won't sing unless it is fast and exciting ~ not so at St. Joe.  As I have been teaching the song the last week or so, I was saying to the 1st and 2nd graders how amazing it is to realize that God/Jesus knows our name, our thoughts and that He is always just a call away.  They looked at me like I had three heads.  Then I said to one little girl that has several siblings.  "Does your mom love you?" "Yes!" she said.  "Does she always answer you when you call?"  "Yes!"  "What if you and all your brothers and sisters are calling for your mom at the same time and you are all in different rooms?  Is she still able to answer all of you and be with all of you at the same time?"  "No."  "Jesus is.", I replied.  Then her eyes lit up and she said  "That IS amazing, Mrs. Young!"

Will she remember this conversation tomorrow or next week?  Probably not, but I will never forget the look in her eyes when she said "That IS amazing!"  Like it just hit her how awesome God's love for us really is.  Yes, that is what I get to do all day ~ share the love of Jesus (and music) and NO, you may not have my job.  It just doesn't get any better than that.  She may never remember what an ostinato is, or a repeat sign, or the notes on the staff (I hope she will), but I pray she will remember that Jesus knows her name, and He hears her when she calls.

I hope that you are like that little girl.  I hope that you know just how amazing God is!  How much he loves you, even before time began and that He is always there ~ no matter where you go.  And you know what?  That IS amazing!!
